read and write all you want revolution cant be taught
by Matt HartlesAs an angry teenager searching for cheap laughs and minor destruction, me and a friend went for a beer run armed with spray paint and a few dollars for a show and a late night Dennys run. All the kids are at the show showing off the latest "political" patches, pins and tshirts. So me and my friends stagger out of the car when we arrive at the show with a sign that says No War, "Me and my bandmates are strongly against war and have been writings songs about it since we formed.....never one complaint or comment . Now that our lyrics and slogans are relevant to our public, they find it offensive and say its not the time for such things, they think that is it not right to wear a burning american flag pin or a hammer and sicle. Anti-war statements mean your are unamerican and a traitor to your country and that I owe MY LIFE to those who are fighting someone else's war. The fact is that they chose to fight and die for a country that doesnt give a shit about them and would trade their lives for oil, power, and money". So we're walking around with the sign talking to friends and the usual when people start to tell us to put it down and they dont want the cops to come or cause any problems. Punk rock is about causing problems, if I didnt challange something I wouldn't be alive I'd be asleep watching TV or wasting my time going to school learning someone else's ideas and beliefs. The music these kids are listening to should be opening their eyes to fact that this is not a great country and that success shouldnt be measured in lives. well i could rant for hours ill leave with this song, Nazi nation abomination this world thrives on discrimination, Conspirasize through demons eyes while corruption multiplies in our everyday lives, This countrys built on lies, They televise to make you realize a power that can silence innocent cries, watch live as a country dies right before our eyes. Our founding fathers are crooks and thieves, exiled from their country to do what they please, the american way was pathed with filth and sleaze. |
